Graduation season is here! Graduating is an achievement worthy of celebration, but amid the excitement, many soon-to-be graduates are planning their next steps as they move into higher education and the job field. The students at Texans Can Academy – Austin are no exception.
That’s why The HT Group is hosting a workshop at Texans Can Academy – Austin on Friday, May 25 – to help prepare graduating seniors for life after high school. At the workshop, career experts from The HT Group will hold training sessions on resume writing and interviewing.
In the resume writing workshop, students will learn how to write effective resumes that stand out and will have the opportunity to have their current resumes reviewed and critiqued in one-on-one sessions.
A separate interviewing workshop will be led by Craig Patterson, Director of Professional Services at The HT Group, where graduating seniors will learn the ins and outs of interviewing with potential employers. Subject matter will range from common interview questions and proper interview attire to how to follow up after the interview.
“I’m proud to be in a position to give back to the community through our work at The HT Group,” said Patterson. “We aim to change lives for the better, and helping to prepare the students at Austin Can Academy for life after high school is a perfect opportunity to make that vision a reality.”
To the students at Texans Can Academy, graduation means so much more than leaving high school. Many students at the academy have struggled in a traditional high school setting and had to overcome difficult situations to get where they are today.
“Our students have faced incredible challenges in their lives and they tend to seriously undersell themselves,” said Nina Winstead, Director of Development at Texans Can Academy – Austin. “Working with The HT Group gives them the understanding and confidence to highlight their strengths. That little push has helped us get students employed in really great positions and I don’t imagine that being possible without the help of organizations like The HT Group.”’
For many Texans Can Academy students, graduation is a life-changing achievement that signifies the possibility of financial independence, acceptance into their dream college, or beginning a career they thought was out of reach.
