Senior Sysetms Engineer – Onsite San Antonio, Texas with TS SCI
This position supports a government customer through the rapid research and development of critical cyber capabilities. Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the development and test environments, for implementing new technologies and capabilities to better mirror operational environments, implementing Continuous Integration / Continuous Development through automation, as well as directly supporting the development of additional capabilities through automated deployment.
Environment:
– Operating systems: Microsoft Server 2019/2022 (incl. Core), Windows 10/11
– Core domain services: AD CS, GPOs, Remote Desktop Services, WSUS, DNS, DHCP, user account management, DFS-N and -R, etc
– Virtualization: VMware vCenter 8, Nutanix AOS, KVM, LXD/LXC
– Containerization: Docker/K8s being implemented
– Security tasks: Nessus compliance scanning, assisting cybersecurity teams with gathering network artifacts
Desired Skills:
– An analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills are essential; candidates will collaborate with a team of engineers to design and deploy environments that support the development of innovative offensive and defensive cyber capabilities
– Install, integrate, maintain, and support core enterprise infrastructure operations and RDT&E enclave environments used by development teams
– Networking knowledge of Windows/Linux endpoint configuration, subnets, VLANs, and understands other low to moderate level networks concepts
– Scripting/automation – Powershell and PowerCLI (any automation experience will be useful) used for deployment and teardown of representative range environments
– User support – password resets, T1/2 helpdesk, workstation configuration/deployment and setup, new user creation
– Security awareness – maintain situational awareness of threats, patch and remediate vulnerabilities to proactively protect the environment
– Strong documentation and writing skills – SOPs, AOAs, and lots of email correspondence are routinely generated as part of the process
– Provide DevSecOps implementation using Kubernetes, Jenkins, Gitlab, or similar tools
– Experienced in developing, testing, and maintaining containerized applications;
– Working knowledge of source version control, build/release tools and methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines. Working knowledge of Software Build process and a strong “security first” mindset
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
– Two to four years of related DevSecOps experience
– Four to six years of system engineering experience
– Top Secret/SCI Clearance
