The HT Group has partnered with an established real estate development entity based in Central Dallas in the search for a qualified Corporate Controller with previous accounting leadership experience in a homebuilding or real estate/land development setting. Our client is looking for a self-starter with previous experience leading small teams and process in a private equity or family office setting in growth-focused organizations.  This position will be onsite and manage a team of 3+.

What you will do:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for the family office and its real estate projects.
  • Manage cash flow, investment portfolios, and financial performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to evaluate development scenarios and product mix to assist in determining project feasibility.
  • Supervise the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial statements and compliance with relevant regulations. 
  • Serve as primary contact on real estate closings, interacting with title company and sales executives.
  • Implement and enhance accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work closely with external advisors, principally tax advisors, to ensure the integrity of financial operations.
  • Insurance, Payroll and Benefits Oversight

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related required; CPA highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience in an accounting/financial management role within either a land development or homebuilding setting.
  • Excellent understanding of real estate financial principles, including project financing, cash flow analysis, and investment performance metrics.
  • Ability to navigate and identify efficiencies within an ERP system (Intacct highly preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and managing large Excel-based models and data sets required.
  • History of driving initiatives of continuous process improvements (close cycle, financial reporting, system-driven automation).
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and accuracy in work; and time management and organizational skills.
