Austin’s unemployment rate for December has dropped to its lowest level in more than two years, according to figures from the Texas Workforce Commission .The unemployment rate fell to 6.3 percent last month, down from 6.6 percent in November.
Austin employers added 1,100 jobs in December for a total of 16,100 jobs over the last 12 months.
The state’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.8 percent in December, down from 8.1 percent the month before.
The U.S. unemployment rate is 8.5 percent.
