The HT Group is seeking a Power Distribution Engineer for a client in Orange, Texas. As Power Distribution Engineer, you will report to the Reliability Team. This role involves contributing your expertise in design, startup, and operational readiness. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Support commissioning and startup through operational activities, system walkdowns, and PSSR
- Develop inspection, testing, and preventative maintenance procedures for power systems, ensuring industry compliance
- Provide electrical/technical expertise to teams within the facility to ensure designs align with facility standards
- Conduct factory acceptance tests and oversee quality control of repaired electrical components
- Collaborate with Reliability Team to implement reliability programs and standards
- Lead equipment failure investigations and recommend improvements
- Assist in maintaining high-voltage substations
- Drive reliability improvements through bad actor elimination programs
- Perform Arc Flash studies
- Work with vendors and contractors to resolve equipment issues
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Must have 15+ years of electrical engineering experience
- Must have industrial experience, petrochemical preferred
- Expertise in low, medium, and high voltage (138kV) equipment: switchgear, MCC, motors, UPS, transformers)
- Knowledge of industry standards: NFPA, NESC, ANSI, IEEE, API, NEMA, NETA
- Experience with NFPA 70E Electrical Safety
- Commissiong and start up experience – a plus
- Knowledge of ETAP/SKM software – preferred
- Skilled in feeder, motor, and line protection relays – preferred
- Expertise in troubleshooting using one-line and schematic diagrams – preferred
