The HT Group is seeking a Sr Estimator for a client in Charleston, South Carolina. The ideal candidates will have experience leading the estimating process for civil and marine construction projects. In this role, the Estimator will contribute to business growth through strategic proposal development and bid execution. This is a long-term opportunity with a great company offering growth potential, with a salary range of $130k-$160k.
Responsibilities:
- Manage project estimates from initial approval to contract execution
- Lead proposal preparation, ensuring accurate, timely, and quality submissions
- Obtain pricing from vendors and subcontractors to create realistic and cost-effective estimates
- Review bid documents, perform quantity takeoffs, and conduct market research for proposal submissions
- Analyze project specs, drawings, and contracts to identify costs and risks
- Develop detailed cost estimates and coordinate with vendors/subcontractors for pricing and scope
- Create project schedules, resource plans, and value engineering recommendations
- Conduct risk assessments for cost and schedule optimization
- Ensure estimates reflect market conditions, labor rates, and material costs
- Maintain an accurate estimating database for consistency across bids
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and contract negotiations
- Assist in developing proposals and presentations for clients
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field
- Must have 7+ years of civil and marine constructions experience
- Proficient in HCSS HeavyBid and estimating software
- Skilled in vendor/subcontractor negotiation and communication
- Strong problem-solving and cost-saving skills with a positive, team-oriented, results-driven attitude
